When we hear or read the word “social media” what’s the first thing that pops up on our minds? Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube, Linkedin, or another social network that one uses in their everyday routine. There are so many different networks that different people use daily, and for several reasons. Social media’s history goes back as far as you can imagine, but social media as we know it today with the channels we know and use, started out in the 2000.

Facebook and Twitter when first invented, people were amazed by how fast they can reach people they haven’t seen or heard from them in year in just one click! Not only were people amazed by this, but also were amazed by the fact that they can connect with new people from overseas by just one Tweet! That’s what social media was mainly about a few years back, but let me tell you that’s the least of social media concerns nowadays. Now, it’s more about BUSINESS, and how to use social media in business growth.

Based on a statistics analysis made by smart insights, it has been stated that Facebook and Linkedin have been rated the most valuable social media to be used by a business. Facebook rated (89%) and Linkedin with (83%); the reasons behind these numbers is that Facebook has the largest user rate, and Linkedin was firstly constructed with a B2B objective. As we mentioned, Facebook has a wide range of users from all over the globe, and this makes it a perfect platform for businesses to increase their customer reach and raise the awareness for their brands.

Whilst through Linkedin, companies can reach their perfect match of a candidate to join their organization and vice versa. It’s magical how this platform has eased up the whole employment process and broaden up the work chances. Following these two platforms comes YouTube, with 81 % business value rate, followed by Twitter with 80%, and finally followed by Instagram 56%. There are some main reasons why the use of social media is so important to a business, for example:

  • Social media visibility increase the visibility of your brand in the market

  • Build and strengthen your social network

  • Grow relationships with your customers/ potential customers

  • Gives your business a chance to be known by influencers

  • Engage with people with a humanly voice

  • Publish content that reveals your identity

  • Would make your products/ services more available to people

  • Generate new leads and raise your sales
